LinguaKids Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 7, 2026
1. Who we are
LinguaKids is a language-learning app for children, published by 1865 Free Money LLC ("we," "us"). This policy covers the LinguaKids app on iOS and Android and explains what information it collects, why, who it is shared with, and how a parent can review or delete it. It applies only to LinguaKids; our other websites and apps have their own policies.
2. Children and parents
LinguaKids is designed for children, and we take children's privacy seriously, including the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). A LinguaKids account must be created and managed by a parent or legal guardian, not by the child. The parent controls the account, chooses whether to turn on the AI features (see section 5), and can review or delete the child's information at any time (see section 8).
Purchases, links that leave the app, and account deletion are protected by a parental gate. LinguaKids shows no advertising and contains no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
3. Information we collect
- Account information: the parent's email address and password (passwords are stored hashed by our authentication provider), or the identity returned by Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In. If you use Apple or Google sign-in, we may copy the name and profile photo that provider shares into the profile.
- Child profile: the display name you choose, an age range (for example 8–10), the language being learned, and the current level.
- Learning activity: lessons and quizzes completed, XP, streaks, achievements, vocabulary progress, pronunciation scores, roleplay results, and video-chat session records (length, the practice goal, and a short summary of the phrases practiced).
- Conversations with the AI tutor (only if the parent turns AI features on): messages the child types and text transcripts of what the child says during chat, video chats, roleplays and pronunciation practice. Chat history is saved so the child can see past conversations.
- Subscription status: which plan is active and when it renews or expires. Payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google; we never receive card or bank details.
- On-device settings: preferences such as whether Luna speaks aloud are stored only on the device.
We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers, and we do not store audio recordings.
4. Microphone and speech
Speaking features ask for microphone and speech-recognition permission through the standard iOS or Android prompt. Speech is converted to text by Apple's or Google's speech-recognition service (which, depending on the device, may process the audio on the device or on that company's servers under its own privacy policy). The app receives only the resulting text. Luna's voice is generated on the device.
5. The AI tutor (Luna)
Chat, video chats, roleplays, pronunciation tips and mistake explanations use an AI model provided by Anthropic PBC (Anthropic Privacy Policy). These features are off until a parent turns them on: the first time an AI feature is used, the app shows a notice naming Anthropic and listing what is sent, and nothing is sent unless the parent taps "Allow AI Features". Our server also refuses AI requests for accounts that have not given this permission.
When AI features are on, each request sends only what is needed to reply:
- the child's message or speech transcript and the recent conversation in that activity;
- the child's display name, age and age range, the language being learned, and level;
- for video chats, the practice goal and a short summary of the previous video chat.
We do not send the email address, password, payment information, or device identifiers. Requests go through our own server, which holds the AI provider's key; the app never contacts Anthropic directly. Anthropic processes this information to generate Luna's reply, under its commercial terms and privacy policy.
A parent can turn AI features off at any time in Profile → AI Features. New AI requests stop immediately; lessons, quizzes, streaks and reports keep working.
6. How we use information
- to run the account, lessons and progress tracking;
- to generate AI tutor replies and end-of-chat report cards (only if AI features are on);
- to show the parent report and keep streaks and achievements;
- to provide the subscription the parent purchased;
- to keep the service secure and fix problems.
We do not sell personal information, use it for advertising, or build advertising profiles.
7. Who we share information with
Only with service providers that operate the app for us:
- Supabase — account sign-in, database and server functions (privacy policy).
- Anthropic PBC — AI tutor replies, only when AI features are on (privacy policy).
- RevenueCat — tracks which subscription is active (privacy policy).
- Apple and Google — sign-in, in-app purchases, and speech recognition, under their own privacy policies.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of a child or others.
8. Parent rights: review, delete, withdraw consent
- Delete everything: Profile → Delete Account permanently deletes the account and all data linked to it (profile, progress, chat history, session records).
- Turn off AI: Profile → AI Features.
- Review or delete by email: email us from the account's email address and we will provide a copy of the information or delete it.
Deleting the app does not delete the account; use Delete Account or email us. Subscriptions are cancelled through Apple or Google (see the Terms of Use).
9. Retention and security
We keep account and learning data while the account is active and delete it when the account is deleted. Data is sent over encrypted connections, and database access is restricted so each account can only read its own data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect the information we hold.
10. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update this page and the date above, and where required ask for a parent's consent again before collecting new kinds of information.
